You will receive a PDF with your reading and a photograph of the spread, this reading is a written reading that takes you through a walk in the woods to collect a few items of power that may help you on your path, a feather, a crystal, the glimpse of a fae and an encounter with an animal spirit with support for your journey.

Example of the reading pictured above:

Long ago and far away but also at this very moment walking  in a woods that is just a woods that somewhere between one step and the next slips into the otherworld I saw a feather drifting down and reach out my hand and wait for it to land gently on my palm. It’s snowy white with dark bands running across it from a White Owl and I know that all of the messages that I really need to hear are inside of me if I just take the time to listen. I slip the feather into a little empty bag around my neck and keep walking. As the path goes deeper into the woods I have to duck down to get through a tangle of branches and when I do so I see something glitter next to a little tumble of rocks, reaching over to pull it free from the dirt and debris, a beautiful blue sparkles from one side of a piece of rock, I can feel a soothing but strong strength singing from the little crystal cluster reminding me that I have the strength that I need to grow if I can get out of my own way and I’m reminded of a quote by Hafiz, “The beloved sometimes wants to do us a great favor: hold us upside down and shake the nonsense out” and thus give us the wiggle room to grow. Sliding this into my little bag along with the feather, I keep making my way deeper into the woods.

There is a beautiful darkness with light and shadow playing on the trunks of the trees, sometimes a deep darkness and sometimes stepping into a spot of sunlight. In one of these spots of sunlight, the light catches on the trunk of a fallen birch tree covered in mushrooms, it reminds me that after we are shook upside down and given space to grow, new growth does come, the mushrooms roll in and use the destruction of the tree as an opportunity to flourish. As I’m leaning in to see the mushrooms closer, a flutter of movement catches my eye where the downed trunk leads out of the spot of sunlight and perfectly balanced on a mushroom is a fat creature with wings like tattered leaves and a mischievous look on his face as he quickly but gracefully springs from mushroom to mushroom, radiating energy and life but always landing perfectly balanced. He is a spark of live energy that could lead me down a path I might get lost on… or towards a powerful experience. As I put a piece of mushroom into my bag, I think, this is a day for powerful experiences and I follow him deeper into the woods.

As he flits, always just ahead, always beckoning, always quick but balanced, he looks back with a knowing eye until cutting through the woods that have gotten old and loamy is a large path that has been compacted by years of repeated crossings. The little fae goes still, perched on a branch overlooking the road and after a time I too sit down and wait. A long time later or just a few minutes, the ground under me starts to vibrate, heavy steps shake the branches around but at the same time a stillness seems to pervade the forest as an old and powerful elephant matriarch walks her way down the path, she doesn’t rush, she just moves, step after step down this path she has crossed hundreds of times before. When she comes to where I am now sitting on my knees she turns her big head full of craggy wrinkles and leans her head down to mine, eyes full of wisdom, full of memories, full of births and deaths and the knowledge to never seek to forget, but to give space for those remembrances to shape me. In a few hours or only a few moments she moves down the road and I’m left in stillness. Eventually I look up towards the little fae and he tilts his head and winks dropping something from the tree just before he flits away. I grab it before it falls to the ground and opening up my hand is a little elephant carved out of wood holding a little piece of the grandmother’s energy and I slip it, too, into the bag around my neck and make my way out of the forest slowly, thinking about what I had found along the way.

Wisdom comes from an inner place that we need to hold space for, if we clutter ourselves full of inconsequential noise there is no room for the quiet spaces in the forest and the universe has to give us a shake now and again to remind us and free up space. Growth moves into those spaces, making use of the fallen debris for new growth that can be fiery and impulsive but if we focus that energy towards balance it can lead us to wisdom that only comes from holding space for it all of my memories and the grandmother always walks along with me to help hold the difficult ones.

A Walk in the Woods Reading

  • All readings currently take up to 7 days to get back to you.

  • Please keep in mind that I come to any reading from the perspective of healing, self-exploration, and strategies for dealing with things as they are or for moving forward or towards a goal. While I believe that we can see forecast of the direction the future is heading, I do not believe in a fixed future. Because of this, any future trajectories are there to give you information so that you can make choices and decisions to keep going in that direction, or start to shift the direction you are going in. A reading should never take the power out of your own hands.
